Bidrage med feedbackWe loved this place when it was out on route one it was small and intimate and the food was amazing. Ever since moving to Winter Harbor, it just hasn't been the same. You can tell that the owner struggled to upgrade to a larger space in terms of service and maintaining quality for more people, especially with the current labor shortage. We often felt we were paying much more than the food and experience was worth, but we did so because it was the only nice restaurant around. Sad to see them go, but not surprising.
Our first time in Maine and we were so pleasantly surprised by how perfect our night ended up being we owe it all to Saltbox!! This was a Sunday evening and my partner and I were driving through town without any plans or reservations. After putting our name on the waiting list for The Wrinkled Pickle down the street, we were doing some soul searching and found the menu for Saltbox which we couldn't pass up. We saw that they only accepted reservations, so we called and luckily they had a table available by the time we would be driving over (5 min later). The space is absolutely beautiful and airy, parking is almost too easy, and there is not bad table in the house. We are so thankful that they were able to accommodate us on such short notice and w/ a perfect view of the sunset along the water. The chowder was addictive, the salad was the best caesar I've ever had, the smoked seaboard is genius, and the lobster mac was exactly what I needed after a long day of driving. Nothing bad to say about the service either dishes were spaced out perfectly and our entire evening couldn't have gone smoother. Thank you Saltbox! I loved the table next to us where we heard the woman wanting to hear the dessert menu first before planning out her meal btw. Sounds like you guys have a loyal following of some great eaters. What a memorable meal!
I went to Salt Box three times this summer each meal was superb particularly special were the soups and deserts. For those concerned about COVID this is a really safe restaurant great spacing between tables and really high ceilings. I think it is the safest restaurant I've enjoyed in Maine.
Delicious haddock chowder, green salad, and basil blueberry lemonade. The restaurant itself is a comfortable Maine atmosphere. Great service.
Drove out to your place today for lunch, since your yelp page says open 12 to 3pm. But your closed for lunch please update your page so others do not waste their time like I did, so The Pickled wrinkle said the day, great food
