Plums Restaurant - Beaufort

The gouda mac-n-cheese at this restaurant is definitely a standout dish. However, the recommended burgers can be hit or miss. The reuben was just okay, lacking in enough juice. Be sure to ask for all condiments and sauces on the side, unless you are familiar with how the dish is served. We were surprised when a fried appetizer was served with sweet sauce all over the top, and a bowl of soup had rice on top causing it to overflow. Despite these hiccups, our waitress was excellent.

This is a very mixed review. My wife and I had lunch at this restaurant Friday, February 16th our 22nd wedding anniversary),I had the shrimp Poboy. My wife had the fried fish Poboy. We both had a mixed greens salad. The fish and the shrimp in both dishes were very good, however. The crispy fish in my wife's poboy was drowned in condiment and quickly became soggy. The baguettes were not done very well. They were cold and looked and tasted uncooked. The two dishes would have been nearly perfect if the kitchen staff had taken the time to toast the baguettes we were seated at 11am and were one of the first tables to order)First...the women's restroom had not been cleaned sink wet, paper towel on floor, toilet paper still in toilet) per my wife. Our server, though friendly was forgetful and inattentive, passing by our table several times and ignoring us right after checking with th table immediately behind ours, also forgetting items in our order. We have dined here previously the food and service were excellent during those visits. I did not penalize our server tip) for the poor service and spotty food quality, that said.... the view from our table was still very beautiful.

The shrimp and grits portion was huge, even though I only ordered the half portion. I absolutely loved it. The shrimp po'boy was fantastic and the pork wontons were very delicious.

Food is always good. The table next to the door going to the patio needs to be removed. I heard several servers say the f word about the complications of me even sitting there. As someone who currently works in Food and Beverage and I have for almost 20 years, it was bad. Our service was also the worst I have ever seen. First, we were ready to give our full order, but our server said I just need your need your drinks first. Then she also took our food order. It was rude and condescending. The only other time that we saw her was when she helped deliver our food. We had to ask a hostess to see our server for refills 30 minutes later. At that point we were just ready for boxes and after already being thirsty the whole meal. There was never a check back to see if everything was OK. NO IT WASN 'T. The most incompetent server I have ever met. Unfortunate for her tip as well, which she couldn 't even manage to make correct change for. She still received 15% but she missed out. The joke at our table was that she took a break. If she would have actually given her name like a proper server, I would list it now.
