Griffin Market - Beaufort

The outdoor atmosphere was far too loud, with a terrible singer and music that made it impossible to enjoy dinner. The performer really needs to reconsider her career choices, as her looks and voice weren’t enough to make up for the noise level that drowned out conversation. As for the burger, it was below average—lacking flavor, and as a former chef, I would be embarrassed to serve something like that. The patties were thin and lacking in taste and seasoning. Additionally, there were a lot of bugs outside, which could easily be managed with better plant maintenance and repellents; a jar filled with pennies just doesn’t do the trick. Overall, the dining experience was disappointing.

Griffin Market is a cozy, unassuming Italian restaurant tucked away in Beaufort, easily overlooked unless you’re specifically looking for it. They offer a set four-course menu filled with intriguing Italian dishes. Everything was well-prepared and delicious, but it might be a bit difficult for those with specific preferences, particularly if they’re not fond of seafood. With wine for two, the total came to around $220. Overall, it’s a lovely place for a special occasion.

As for the food, I was absolutely delighted. All the appetizers arrived at the table, and we shared them like a traditional family meal. Everything was delicious, and I found myself wanting more. Everyone expressed concerns about overeating since there were more courses to come, but the portions were just right. Every dish was polished off, and we all felt satisfied. The flavors were simply outstanding. Our exchange student mentioned it reminded her of visiting her grandmother's house on Sundays. The oxtail was exquisite, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. If you're looking for Olive Garden, then you should go there and not complain about authentic Italian cuisine. Our bill came to just over $500 for six people (three teenagers and three adults), and we only had three additional drinks besides water. It was worth every penny. We definitely plan to return!
