The Holly Tree - Waltham Forest

What a lovely, quirky pub. As visitors from outside London, we were delighted to find a place so friendly and characterful. We were made to feel really welcome and found the food and drink excellent. We will definitely return.

We had our book club Christmas dinner last night in the conservatory at the back of the pub. Much thought had gone into decorating and warming the room. It was very lovely, Christmasy and welcoming. The food was really super, large portions and very tasty. The staff were superb very patient, attentive without hovering, everything ran very smoothly from beginning to end. Thank you for a very special evening.

Another beautiful place, helpful service, nice and quiet, right by the huge park. Simple menu, nothing pub-traditional but easy and healthy.

Nice Vegetarian Roast ruined with very strange Clove tasting gravy. Change the gravy and you have a winner!

We visited the restaurant on Father's Day and found it to be very busy, as expected. However, the staff were working hard to maintain good service. We were seated at our table and given menus. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we went to the bar to order drinks. While waiting, we noticed another customer ordering food at the bar, so we decided to place our order there as well, realizing that this was the process for ordering at this restaurant. About an hour into our visit, I went back to the bar to inquire about our food, as we still had not received it. I suggested that a complimentary drink would be appropriate given the long wait, but the staff member said that since we had only been waiting for 40 minutes (since we figured out how to order food), a free drink would not be offered. I mentioned that this information had not been communicated to us. When the food finally arrived, it was delicious and we all enjoyed our meal. Despite the lack of communication and wait time, the hard-working and friendly staff were a standout feature of our experience.
