The ambiance is beautiful, the food is delectable. The vegan dessert was exceptionally delicious, but very generous in portion size! The staff is lovely and accommodating, and there is a wide selection of delicious vegan wines available.
The restaurant is in a great location with views of stunning sunsets and surrounded by a beautiful vineyard. While I've heard mixed reviews about the service, my dining experience was definitely a success. The staff were knowledgeable about vegan options and confidently recommended delicious vegan wines and meals. They even accommodated a request to make a lunch item vegan. The gourmet berry dish, hummus trio, and taco salad with local sauces were all impressive. I'm excited to try the Auberginen dish on my next visit.
The restaurant is located in a beautiful winery with stunning views. However, I was disappointed with the lack of vegan options available. During my visit yesterday for a wine tasting event, we arrived just before 5:00 PM and were informed that they had stopped serving their main menu. Instead, they were only offering cheese plates and wine. When I asked if they could prepare a small vegan dish without cheese, I was told no. The waitress even made a fuss about asking the chef if they could simply provide a bowl of olives as an alternative. While I understand it was late in the day, if the restaurant is still open, they should be able to accommodate all dietary preferences.
After two weeks of difficulty being vegan in New Zealand, this restaurant was a joyful respite. They have a vegan appetizer, main, and dessert on the lunch menu. All were superb. I had the sourdough loaf w/veganized dip (they just use vegan cream instead), the lentil pie, and a quince cheesecake for dessert. All were delicious and very haute cuisine, if you will. A must for vegans on Waiheke.
