Our regular holiday visit to H&G was quite disappointing this time. The eggs and bacon tasted like it was fried in old oil. Someone at our table asked for extra butter only to be told 'we 've run out of butter '. The coffee is made from cheap coffee sachets this is not new but I guess we always hoped over the years they will invest in a coffee machine. Someone ordered a Roosterkoek to be told we do not have Roosterkoek yet (10am not first thing in the morning). One order was messed up, but clear frustration from waiter rather than apologising for the mistake. Kids always enjoyed feeding the goats but were told there is no food packets available to buy. Service not great. Maybe time to kill this tradition.

Home away from home comforts. Food just like Ouma used to make. Lovely home made pre serves, biscuits, peg bags, Christmas trees, etc Also 2nd hand clothing and some art for sale. Good selection of suitable gifts. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: R 50–100

We had lunch today. The food was good, but the waitress did not speak a single word to us. Not a yes or no. She was sitting inside busy on her phone and did not attend to us unless we called her.
