La Botteghita - Verdun

Really liked our food. Had the pasta fantasia and it was really tasty. Big portions and decent prices.

We have ordered mixed buffalo platter which was absolutely delicious. The buffalo itself is super fresh and huge. One thing that I missed in this platter is bit of tomatoes and basil. I think if you add couple slices of tomatoes the dish would taste even better with all these combinations of salami and buffalo. Then we got pizzas which were huge, if we have only known the pizza is that big we have just ordered one pizza for 2 of us to share, especially after taking mixed platter for the starter. It is very subjective to tell how was the pizza, but the dough La Botteghita uses is not my favorite, it is too thin and crispy although my girlfriend enjoyed a lot. One minor thing that I didn’t like is that after we’ve finished the starter the waiter did not replace the fork and knife to the clean one. Instead, he just put the used cutlery on the table (not even on the napkin). This is not very hygienic to put your cutlery on the wooden table. It’s not a big deal to change the cutlery to the fresh one after the starter plate which will make the difference especially to the most fastidious customers. Overall, I think we’ll be back again. At least for the starter plate for sure!

This is my favourite restaurant in Mauritius. Great pasta, super delicious pizza with crispy thin bases. Reasonable prices at about Rs 400 to Rs 450 a pizza. Well worth it. The venue is conveniently situated on the main beach rd in Grand Bay Plenty of parking. I love the staff. Always so friendly and helpful. Especially Ingrid. Friday and Saturday night you can also have a little boogie at the same venue after 10:30pm.
