Bidrage med feedbackBooked this as it falls into the ever decreasing bracket of vaguely affordable michelin star restaurants. The food was great not copious but plentiful enough, not over produced but thoughtful and above all delicious. Puts my faith back in the Michelin guide that they deem it worthy of a star, because it's not flashy. The location is a back street that doesn't have the grand vista views of some of their local competitors but it's extremely pretty, in a village perché touristy way. Only disappointment of the evening was the reaction of the patronne when we mentioned (when she requested our opinion at the end), that there had been a gap of well over 30 minutes (more like 45) between our first and main course. Our order had been taken promptly and the first course similarly arrived soon enough, but the gap was too long. Anyway, she was VERY defensive, and came up with at least four reasons why it was either not true, not her fault, or our responsibility for not bringing it up at the time. All that was required was an apology and maybe a cup of coffee on the house, but neither came. So a bit of a buzz kill at the end, but I'd definitely recommend the place for its food, and hopefully our experience was a one off.
I think you have to be a real good lover to enjoy this kind of meal. It was just far too complex for me. I like food to be simple and tasty. This was neither. It does make me question the whole ‘Michelin star’ rating. But like I said, food lovers would probably think this does deserve it. I was also completely confused by the bread. It was awful. I would have thought the amount you are paying and in France, that the bread would be top quality. There are better restaurants in this area. Very disappointed.
Loved every bit of the experience, which we were fortunate enough to have twice during May. There is such care given to each ingredient that goes into dishes designed to showcase the best of the season and the chef's selections of the moment. Example: our visit during asparagus season gave us the chance to understand how the chef truly honors both the vegetable and the season -- you literally taste and experience both. The location in the old medieval village is charming. The service is exceptional.
Reserved terrace table, the reception was charming and attentive. the three products of the card allow to compose a menu for each taste especially with the very precise explanations of the service. all dishes were excellent, a special mention for strawberry/salted caramel dessert. to be recommended without dispute, pleasure assured. wine map (some of which are biodynamic) very interesting.
While on holiday the owner of our studio was able to secure a table for us at very short notice. We were afforded great courtesy both by Julien Bousseau and his staff. The meal was exquisite the sometimes unusual partnering ingredients left us astounded. The experience was not at the sometimes inflated prices charged in less discerning restaurants.
