Bidrage med feedbackWent on Sunday at 11am and got in at around 12pm. The food hall is very crowded so expect to wait a while to get a seat. The sandwich with the fry dough and egg does not taste good at all. It's not hot as it's prepared beforehand and it's dry and hard to chew. The rice ball is also very oily and nothing surprising about it. The salty soy milk is the only thing which is good but I will not come back to queue again only for the soy milk. There are many other better breakfast stores in Taiwan and definitely don't need to wait for this long. Totally not worth the wait and will not come back again.
Salty beancyrd was interesting, a little like Japanese steamed egg but tofu version. The flat bread was delicious with a generous amount of sesame. The caramel bread is a good end to the meal, sweet and crispy but not heavy cause its empty on the inside
Our queue was very long, we arrived at 9 am, but queue moved very fast. Took us about half an hour to get our food and seats. We had cold beancurd, salty beancurd porridge, the green onion roll, caramel bun, egg pancake, and signature thick bread with egg and donut stick, amd flatbread. The beancurd was so so, but I loved the salty beancurd, it was salty and curdy and had a unique taste I've never had before. I also loved the caramel bun, the egg pancake was so good, taste like egg prata. However, the signature thick bread with donut stick was very oily and the bread was very stiff, would not recommend. Would rather go for the flat bread options as their flatbread is very nice crispy and has a nice flavour to it. Also did not like the green onion bun as it didn't have much flavour to it. They also don't serve drinks here so make sure to bring your own water as the food tends to get a bit much at one point and you will need something to water it down.
Be prepared for the long queue but definitely worth it. Would go back again for the 豆浆. Have never tasted parsley that good in my life. The soy milk is different from what we have in Singapore, there’s a hint of peanut, tasty. Got the 厚烧饼 with fried dough sticks and egg. Would not recommend adding the fried dough sticks, the deep fried oil taste is overwhelming. Just the egg add-on is enough.
I know how famous it is and how the locals love it. I guess it is just not so much to my liking. How else can soy taste differently right? But I love how efficient they are, how they are able to churn out so many breads and other products. The servers are also warm in spite of the tremendously long line and volume of people
