Starbucks - Soledad

We love this place. We make it part of our trip plan when going to LA or SD. It is such a wonderful oasis in the middle of nowhere. And there is plenty of indoor seating. Vegetarian options: Not sure about vegan, but there are non-meat options. Parking: Plenty of parking right outside. We visited Soledad Starbucks on a Sunday morning. The first thing we noticed upon walking in was that it was hot inside and flies were everywhere. We ordered two drinks, an oatmeal, a lemon loaf and a coffee mug to take as a gift. The coffee mugs displayed in front were all dirty with visible residue on them. We chose one that was the least dirty figuring we could clean it ourselves. My oatmeal was the first thing that came out and I immediately realized the cashier had put way too much water inside and there was no fix for how watery and runny it was. I ended up not finishing it because it wasn’t good at all. My cold brew had no ice and was lukewarm by the time I tried it. There was a ridiculous amount (close to 2 inches) of foam at the top which I have never seen in a cold brew I’ve ordered from Starbucks. The bathroom was frankly disgusting and not clean. I was surprised to see the state of this store which is considerably worse than any other Starbucks I’ve visited. Cleanest restrooms I've ever seen at a Starbucks. Well done! Slight miscommunication about whether syrup was to be added to one or both drinks (one only, please! , but that was quickly and easily sorted. I shudder to think what might be growing on the walls in there. The greasy floors seem like they haven't been addressed in ages, and when they were, it must have been done with a dirty mop. There's soap scum all over the walls, and mold and mildew are present in the sink. It's worrisome to think that employees wash their hands in such unsanitary conditions—germs are a real concern! If your staff is too busy to keep the restrooms clean, I highly recommend hiring a cleaning service to take care of it. As for my meal, the takeout was decent, with a price range of $10–20. I would rate the food at a 3, the service at a 5, but unfortunately, the atmosphere gets only a 1. The Banana Walnut Pecan Loaf is a recommended dish, but be prepared for the restroom situation if you decide to visit.
