The Cumberland, Smeaton

This is a fantastic country pub! It has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere and the food is delicious. The sticky date pudding is the best I've ever had. It's tucked away and has a charming vibe, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. The locals are fortunate to have such a lovely place to unwind.

Hello to Troy and his lovely wife at the Cumberland! My partner and I, both from Queensland, stopped by recently on our way back from South Australia (we had oysters with us!). We're really disappointed we didn't get to try one of your meals, as I've heard they are fantastic. Thank you both so much for your warm and friendly hospitality. Meeting you was an absolute pleasure, and the atmosphere at your pub is the best we've ever experienced. We will definitely make a point to return next time we visit our friend (who I'm sure gave you a hard time with all the Queensland footy!). I hope you both had a wonderful time in Cairns!

Amanda and Troy have truly created a gem at the Cumberland, showcasing authentic Australian hospitality. The beers were served with freshness and a warm smile! The meal featured delicious country fare made with local produce, simply prepared. Smeaton Cumberland is a genuine Aussie pub that really cares for its local community! Instead of spending time in Daylesford, which can feel a bit pretentious, come and experience the true essence of the community here!

Good old fashioned pub grub with a local twist.. When my father came to visit me for my birthday with his classic motorcycle and side car, and asked where shall we go for lunch and a beer, I suggested the Cumberland Hotel. I was so glad we went here, that I came back a few days later with friends. We were their only bookings for the Monday night, yet they had the fire going in the bistro. The beer on tap was fresh and crisp, the meals home-style and service down to earth friendly. We loved that they used local produce on the menu, like the Creswick butcher's sausages, Tuki lamb chops, Phoenix olive oil, and their own chips made from local spuds. Cozy atmosphere, heritage decor, good old fashioned pub. Car clubs and bikers, make this pub a lunch stop on your next drive or ride!

Great food, cold beers and good old fashioned hospitality What more do you need? I just love the relaxed and inviting atmosphere that this old pub and the owners provide... Your options are endless: Have a game of pool, chill and relax in the beer garden, warm up by the open fire, join friends for a quick drink at the bar or have a real and wholesome meal in the dining room. I can highly recommend this gem of the goldfields one of the last real country pub around.
