Tropical Island Cafe - Slater-Marietta

I’d give this spot a 3.5. Ordered a j shrimp wrap the shrimp still had the tails on, so I couldn’t really fully enjoy it. And the rice tasted like instant rice, but the dipping sauce was good.

Had the opportunity to try this restaurant over the weekend and we were truly impressed with the place! Keisha the owner was happy to give us samples to truly experience all of the protein flavors and they were all so good that I plan to go back for more! We got the J Chicken Spicy and juicy The Curry Chicken Yellow curry mild but full of flavor and vegetables Brown Stew Chicken Smoky, great consistency for the stew and a bountiful helping. The sides were great! We got the staples, Rice Peas, Cabbage, Plantains, but the potato salad was also really good! Sweet with a little mustardy twang. One thing I found out is they are open til about 3am on the weekends and offer Wings and such to help with late night cravings. Definitely plan to revisit.

Outstanding oxtails, lots of meat on the bones. Great customer service and late night hours. The service is fast and the food arrives hot. The oxtails have great flavor without being overly seasoned. The rice and peas and mac is good as well. I would definitely recommend.
