Bidrage med feedbackGreat food and friendly/fast service. Menu offers wide variety of choices, including all day breakfast. Truly a hidden gem in this part of the country!
Convienent place to grab a variety of general store type things. But they also sell alcohol and have cheap soft serve ice cream which can be eaten at the picnic tables outside
If you're in the Sheffield MA area, then you're definitely going to want to step in this place. Set on the first floor of an antique home, it has all the charm of a New England cottage as you'd expect: solid plank floors, substantial fire place, old doors, and seating by the windows. Ah, but let's talk about the food. My wife and I were hungry after puttering around town a bit and wanted something substantial yet casual. This place easily fit the bill. Everything behind the deli counter is homemade. I had the chicken, bacon, mozzarella, tomato panini special. The mac and cheese was just made so I couldn't turn that down (and it didn't disappoint; my wife who never likes mac and cheese outside of her own actually approved). The elbows had a hint of al dente perfection while the white cheese was creamy with just that right amount of saltiness. Ahh! My sandwich was also a delight. Pressed to perfection, the mozz gently spilled over the chicken with bacon shreds adding that touch of salt and the beefsteak tomato tied it all together. All of this excitement was housed in a requested deli roll (not the suggested ciabatta), with handsome and inviting panini sear marks. Excellent. And I sure hope you'll leave room for dessert. We asked what was fresh and the carrot cake was on the top of the list. Topped with a thin layer of cream cheese icing, the dark and moist carrot cake was sublime. Blue Door got this one right too, perfectly balancing the sweetness of the icing and the fruitiness of the cake. I almost asked for another slice to go, but figured it was best to leave wanting, especially for another reason to return to Sheffield. All of this was topped by excellent service provided by an attentive and polite young man who ran the counter, crafted our sandwiches, and kept the shop tidy. Great job Blue Door!
I bought a sandwich there awhile back. There are no prices listed on most things there which is really annoying and not fair to the customer. I ordered a simple turkey and swiss on rye. After making the sandwich woman claimed the price was 9.95! I paid and started to walk out and opened the package. I felt the bread and it was hard as a rock. I went back in and said the bread is stale and she claimed Oh the bread always comes in like that , as if it 's just the way the bread is. I said the bread is stale, plain and simple. Can you put the sandwich on some other fresh bread that might make the sandwich worth 10 dollars? She was very put out and threw another sandwich together, which was somewhat edible. the quality of the bread is like Freihoffers and the cold cuts just as lame. I can 't believe the prices they charge for second rate food. Never going back. So many other places, like The Marketplace down the street that has similar prices for high quality foods. No attitude either.
Had high hopes upon new ownership and saw great things happening at first. Some new blood in the place made for new products, slightly better quality, new menu, etc. They unfortunately failed to keep it up. First off-not actually open the hours they say they are. Yelp, Facebook, Google all have their hours posted as open until 10 or 11 depending on the day. Drove over at 9:15-closed and pitch black in there. Last time I was there I bought a loaf of bread-got home and it was moldy. The time before that, I bought crackers and bread there and both were incredibly stale, I guess I should have known better. Many of their groceries are out of date on the shelves which doesn't make me trust the food behind the counter so much anymore. Also, none of them are priced which is very annoying in any store. I've returned since the stale crackers and moldy bread purely out of convenience, but no more. I'll take the drive into GB or Canaan, or do without before going back.
