Bidrage med feedbackGreat food. Will be visiting Savannah again soon and will be coming back. Loved the energy there.
Without reservation we decided to come early for dinner on a Saturday evening. The place closes at 8, so we arrived slightly before 6.30. Smoke parking and there 's no line which is a good sign. There were 2 other parties in front of us though. Soon after they seated the 1st party and we were told to wait (no specified amount of time). We were probably waited about 20ish minutes before we got out table. The place is packed. Lots of people came after us and had to wait for tables as well. I was getting worried as I read past reviews while waiting but decided to stick with our venture. We were not disappointed! My fried chicken is super moist even though it was chicken breast. The taste is spot on and the right crunchiness as well. The catfish is flaky and light. My husband enjoyed his Jerk chicken. This is super rare because chicken is his least favorite meat, so for him to compliment a chicken dish it must be VERY good
Place was super good. Getting it to-go I got smaller portions than I expected. I absolutely recommend the fried chicken, mash potatoes and collard greens. The grits were not that good. Overall I would come back, but I wish they'd give me more for how much I paid.
This review has been waiting for an update after Steve sold the business , to see if they kept up the standards. I can tell you that after having eaten there three times now after they sold, it is no longer the award winning sweet potatoes restaurant. I knew it was no longer under Steve 's leadership before I actually asked because I knew and picked up on all the subtle changes. It 's unfortunate that todays experience sealed the deal that we will never return nor will I tell people it 's a great place to eat. Todays experience was awful. The last three times I have gotten the Moroccan salmon. It used to be the best thing on the menu. It is no longer. If the fish isnt raw in the middle than the sauce is off or the biscuit is over done. It 's no longer the creation Steve created- I had conversations with him about it. But what was the real kicker was that we sat at the bar and ordered and three other separate people ordered after us and all of their food came out to them before ours. We ordered the Moroccan salmon and a hamburger and fries. As I already said the salmon is no longer the same, and the hamburger came out with a huge black hair cooked into the patty and was disgusting. When we complained and asked for a new burger to be made, I ate my mediocre dish and my daughter had nothing. To be clean we waited 26 minutes for our food. Remember, the three other separate people at the bar got their food first. So now we waited another 15 minutes for a 'new burger '. Why the quotes, because we weren 't convinced it was a whole new patty because the same exact bun was used and they took the tomato and didnt redress it. Yes same burger bun that the burger with the hair was sitting on! My daughter was so upset and all the employees and kitchen staff were watching her like ' is she going to eat it? ' Did they do something to it? Why was everyone watching her? She was too upset to eat. So we boxed it and were going to at least take it and give it to someone on a corner panhandling. But then we just left it. We were disgusted. If you are reading this review, this used to be our favorite place to eat. It 's no longer. I 'm sorry you won 't get to know just how great this place used to be under the previous ownership:
We were pretty disappointed with our experience. The fried catfish with tartar sauce and sweet potato fries were good. Cornbread was fine, but I'm not usually a fan of cornbread. We were disappointed with everything else: peach glazed BBQ chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, cucumbers, and even the banana pudding. The biggest complaint was lack of flavor. The BBQ chicken was dry and parts of it were hot while other parts were tepid. The banana pudding was ok, but definitely not the best in the world. It was 75% whipped cream (which tasted good), with 25% banana slices and cookie. I don't think the cookies were homemade, either. We thought it was odd when the table next to us was told they ran out of catfish and chicken breast. At 6:15pm? The waiter told them that chicken tenders would be used instead of breast and they'd have practically the same taste. What? Service was pretty unorganized. We waited 15 minutes after ordering banana pudding for the waiter to ask if we wanted our bill... we reminded him of our dessert and he was surprised no one brought it to us. It was rushed out with plastic spoons. During our dinner it was not busy, either. The prices were pretty high for what we received. The inside wasn't anything special. We wouldn't come back.
