Bayou Cafe Food Truck - Savannah

Located back atmosphere with large south kitchen. New Orleans cuisine in Savannah! Much to choose on the menu in this relaxed café, bar and late night music venue on the river bank. The staff was friendly and service was efficient, it was quiet when we went to lunch, but the things look to get quite alive later. A reliable, somewhat hidden option in the heart of the Savannah Tourist Route.

Delicious, no Frills Cajun cooking. Most other places on River Street were stuffed on a Saturday night, but we found this little hole in the wall by chance, were immediately sat and continued to have a good meal. Our server Rayna was a doll, really real, that got our commands right and quickly served us. My corn cabot was perfect and the jambalaya could not have been better. We also tried the gator who was tender, and the cancer etouffeee, a sage-y contract. I had two of her signature drinks, the Margarita and the Gin Drink I LOVED. We were a little early in the evening, but Rayna invited us to come back later when the band arrived. Very sweet! We had other plans, but I wondered when I could have more of the Chowder!!

We just stopped walking around Savannah. I'm glad we did this because the food was great. We sat at a table next to the bar. We waited for the server to come, but she never did. The bartender finally served us from the bar. The service was decent. Typical hole in the wall restaurant. I'd definitely go back.

I ordered the jambalaya…. It was really good, however the portion was about 8-10 ounces for $13 dollars plus $1.50 tip I gave before I saw the portion size. Again, it was very good but the portion size was way to small.

We came here for a Sunday lunch with friends. Food was pretty good, but it took forever for service. No fault of the bartender, but the locals were taking all of their attention. Definitely a good stop for drinks, but just judge carefully. If the bar is full, it may not be worth the time.
