Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant was highly recommend however I was highly disappointed. Everything about this restaurant should give you the impression of receiving great service and good food. Everything here was simply, just fair or special, not good and not great considering it's reputation and price. Upon our arrival the host stand seem to be the beginning of confusion and poor service. It's one of those restaurants with all hands on deck causes too many hands in the pot! Once seated several people came to assist us and it wasn't because of the language barrier each one of them spoke English fluently. We placed our order, got our food, ate it was full but not necessarily satisfied. There was one server she was pretty decent but the rest of the experience was mediocre. The only standout were the scallops, perfectly cooked and delicious. Look at the pictures because I really don't have the energy to discuss my average meal! Would I go back or suggest this restaurant? NOPE!
Absolutely adore this place! Fresh and truly amazing fish, great tasting menu and wine pairing what was recommended by the waiter. We spent six hours here and truly loved it!

I came here during the summer (in June) and had an excellent meal. The seafood was so fresh and they had many appealing options so it was hard to choose. Instead of opting for their set three course menu of the day, I ordered my own starter, main course and dessert selection. The grilled scallops with smoked parsley mayonnaise, baked celeriac and apple vinaigrette were excellent. I loved the monkfish with lobster risoni, marinated shrimps, fennel salad and lobster gravy. The dessert marinated pineapple with passion fruit cream, coconut meringue and banana and passion fruit sorbet was a highlight. We were kind of a big group and the service was helpful and friendly. Some of our group got the fresh seafood platter and I tried some of it. It was so good. I highly recommend a visit to Solsiden for authentic and delicious seafood, while in Oslo.
I was invited here by a colleague for dinner. He tells me this place is open only three months of the year and is a converted pack house from the old days. It's a fairly big restaurant that specializes in local fresh seafood. It was packed when we got there and we have a lovely table by a window with sea view. The menu is fairly limited and they have a three course menu for the day or seafood platter. Unmistakably the best seafood platter I have ever had, and I have had a lot : Fresh prawns, scallops, scampi, spider crab, snow crab, Norwegian Lobster, mussels and crab claws piled high on a share plate. It was divine. No need for condiments, bread or chips and add ons. Deep cold water seafood is simply something you cannot get it most places, caught daily and brought into Oslo harbour. Out waiter was excellent and very chatty and friendly. Service the whole evening was excellent and we had a fabulous evening. The wine list was good with a good selection of wines, albeit expensive, but then again, it's Norway ; Close your eyes, order the seafood platter and burn your plastic, you won't regret it :
