Le Chalet de Chanteraine - Saint-Lizier

The only place in St. Lizier on Monday night. A street café and restaurant with a pleasant enough terrace, but close to a lively and loud main road. There were very few diners, but our service was friendly, fast and attentive. Food was... OK. Huge and delicious salad for Entrée. The steak was edible, although I asked for saignant and became almost medium. But why do you serve it with a mixture of braided spucks, beets and carrots instead of good old chips? The recommended red wine of the cook, a Corbières, was extremely delicious. Desserts uninspiring (fruit salad, Crème brulée, ice cream... . Meal at 25 € value.

I stopped here for lunch with my family. It's right along the highway. Just get in. Three of us had the lamb and one order of the duck. It was all fabulous. Excellent sites to eat a lot. It's a great place to stop. Service... starting with a pallet refreshing on the house. Deserts had to die. We had the crepes and profiteroles. Everything was great.

We at Le Chalet ate three occasions as it was the next restaurant to the house where we lived. We enjoyed each visit and the food. The woman who introduces the place and waits for all tables was always very efficient, even... at noon when the place quickly fills with locals. The food is simple, but freshly prepared and generous.

The restaurant is situated next to a busy road just outside St Girons in Saint Lizier. The staff are very welcoming and there is a pleasant outdoor area with tables laid up with white cloths, clean glasses etc. The menu's are in essence local and...range from 15 30 euros. We selected the 15 euro menu and it was reasonable food for the money. Salad with home made quiche, brochette of various meats and a homemade creme caramel. Nothing special as far as the food is concerned, but, the service is very slow which rather put us off and led to me rating this restaurant as average.
