MY APOLOGIES TO ROOSTER 'S! I was so wrong. Here's the deal: I drove to Rooster 's 50 times and made assumptions about it. On and off the coast of Lake Michigan there are hundreds of small buildings that sell beer/wine/liquid/single food/single meat, .etc. Think about it as old-school convenience stores, oriented to tourists/campaigns. In a way that 's what Rooster 's is; decent selection of items described above, but then, people, step up to the counter, ask for a menu, check The hot food ad followed by the cold food options and then the Specials Board. Then, go back to see your order. Here are your options: large fried chicken dinner/boxes or by the piece; very good homemade macaroni/colleg/potato/pasta salads; cold sandwiches with superb bit O' Swiss bread; hot vegetables/mac and cheese/homemade potatoes and engraving along with their potato chips. For larger orders, go to their website, find out what you want and call to move things. Hours vary in/out of season. Friendly, efficient service. Just take it. I'm impressed!

Every time I look there, I see I'm a common thief. Today the galle almost stood on my toes while I tried to find out what candy bar I wanted most for tonight. She made me so messed up that I was planning less than I was.

Broasted chicken and sides were really good. Especially the deviled eggs.

When we bought our house in 2018, the sellers told us that the convenience store across the street has the BEST fried chicken in town. We thought they may be joking, but it's absolutely true!! Their refrigerated section is perfect to grab before heading down to the beach for a picnic; Our favorites are the macaroni salad, broccoli salad, deviled eggs, and tuna sandwich. There's also usually yesterday's fried chicken for $1 and some change and it's still great! Of course, the fresh chicken and sides steal the show- my husband LOVES grabbing their lun chi specials during the week. Wine and beer selection is wonderful and great place to stop for a drink and some snacks. Rooster's is a beloved gem in this town!
