Bidrage med feedbackWe lunched here on Tuesday 29th December 2015. My wife ordered Gang Cho Chee (beef, medium spiciness) with a small serving of steamed jasmine rice at extra cost, while I ordered Tom Yum thin egg noodle soup with chicken (medium spiciness). The Gang Cho Chee (dry beef curry with coconut milk, vegetables and kaffir lime) turned out more sweetish rather than spicy. The broccoli and beans were hardly cooked and tasted raw and were hard to chew and some of the beef slices were tough. Somewhat disappointing since this was an a la carte dish – not the usual lunch special.The Tom Yum soup dish was neither hot nor spicy. It had a somewhat sweet bland taste. The sliced mushrooms were raw, and so were the tomato slices and broccoli. Pieces of chicken meat were strewn on top of the dish rather than cooked in the soup. Not a very appetising meal for the price despite it coming in a large bowl.Despite the two of us being the only diners in this small cafe-like restaurant, the atmosphere was not pleasant with much noise and loud shouting from the kitchen from the male chef. Not a pleasant dining environment.
Richlands is a bit of backwater when it comes to getting a decent feed, which is why this tiny (and inexpensive) restaurant proved such a good find. The restaurant itself is very small - sit at one of the three or four outside tables if you are even slightly claustrophobic, The atmosphere is not great either inside or out but the tastiness of the food and the grace and friendliness of the staff will soon have you overlooking that. They say that duck is the specialty of the house and we would certainly vouch for the 'Hot Wok Duck' dish. Also liked the Thai salads (green papaya and beef) though probably the dish we loved the most was an entree, the stuffed mushrooms. Totally unexpected and utterly delicious. The restaurant does a bustling takeaway trade and also offers an array of $12 lunch specials, which did not get to sample but sounded excellent value, especially if the food was as good as we enjoyed.
Went here tonight to order takeaway, the lady that served us said it would take 25mins... almost an hour later we received our food. Food was OK but most of it had been left to go cold during the wait.
I love discovering restaurants that serve good Thai food and there are lots of them in Brisbane. It's hard to get a bad Thai meal in this town, but what has surprised me is that the quality is often not consistent over several returns. Always good but up and down within that margin.What a surprise is the Thai Origin - it it consistently sensational.We have now returned six times and every meal has been excellent. Generous serves with friendly service and excellently priced.My partner is a vegetarian and I am a devotee of the grill. Both of us agree that every meal here leaves a well pleased wow factor feeling as you drive away.
One of my favourite Thai restraints has relocated to a new part of Brisbane!!! And WOW!!! 10/10. Great authentic thai dishes, great service!!! This place is a credit to themselves. Always greeted with a smile. Always walk away satisfied. Highly recommend!!! Book ahead on weekends as they are popular as ever!!
