Bidrage med feedbackWhile in Ravenna, keep an eye out for green and white striped kiosks that sell the Ravenna classic Piadini. They are lovely little treats, served either as small pizzas or folded together. The dough is unleavened just water, flour and yes, that evil source of great pie crusts, lard. Ingredients are simple and traditional good cheese, aubergines, chopped vegetable, various hams and sausages, a little tomato sauce your choice. The cost 1 Euro for a basic flat Piadina, up to 4 Euro for loaded one. Danielle, who runs the Romagnola, after taking it over from his mother, makes great ones. It's just counter service, with a few plastic chairs, a few steps south of the Porta Nova. Local, authentic, cheap, delicious and made with real care. Stand and watch the master make them with well loved tools he inherited. Street food at its finest.
