Farmer Browns Rathmines

Farmer browns used to be one of my favourite places to eat when I lived in the neighbourhood. I hadn't been to the restaurant in a couple of years when I booked in over the weekend. I was really disappointed. The decor has gone really shabby, and the restaurant felt grubby. There was different music playing inside and outside on the terrace, and with the door open, that became really distracting. We were the only people sitting inside the restaurant, and it was really quiet outside two, with just a couple of tables filled. Despite this, the table next to us remained stacked with plates and food left from previous diners for 20 minutes. When our starters arrived, one of the waitstaff started hovering next to us. Our drinks came warm. The starter of chicken wings was nice, but that was the highlight of the meal. Service was extremely slow we waited about 45 minutes between our starters and main. My partner's order was wrong, and my salad had no dressing on it. Despite all of this, it was pricey. It's a shame to see a once famous eatery lose its charm. I hope it will regain it.

The food was decent, but the service was a little slow. The prices were high for the portion sizes. However, the lemonade was delicious.

We had our second visit to Farmer Brown's Rathmines . Mybwifecand I brought her sister who is visiting from the US. We had a wonderful time. We are from the early bird menu and the food was delicious!! I had the second best wings starter I ever had(my son's are chefs and my son Peter makes the best chicken wings in the world!! The pork tacos were fantastic and the fish and chips out of this world!! The batter was the best ever!. And the staff caterered for my very fussy plain eater wife, she had a ball. We were so impressed by the paintings on the wall , we bought one as a house warming gift for my daughter!! Thank you for a great meal! We hope to become regulars. Phillip OBrien Gleeson

Can't say enough about this place. Happened on it randomly while staying up in Rathmines. Loved everything about it. Friendly helpful staff, great menu and even greater food. Nice relaxed atmosphere for a busy place. I would highly recommend and definitely return.
