Bidrage med feedbackWe had lunch on a beautiful October afternoon, and the experience could not have been better. We were warmly welcomed by one of their employees and offered several tables to choose from, including one directly next to the river. The waiting staff was very helpful to answer all the questions. The food was very excellent and the attitude is worthy!! I was a little confused with some of the negative reviews and wondered if they were in the same facility. The plate d'jour at 15 Euro is also an excellent value, which includes a main course that changes daily, and coffee-gourmand that contains five or six separate tasty bite-size pastries. It is less than 1/2 hour from the center of Cannes, but another world, and worth the trip.
The food was excellent but the restaurant was very noicy. Close to the river Siagne, a very beatiful place.
Some may remember the re-opening as somewhat chaotic and off-putting, but the management, after a few changes, have sorted things out and made the l’Ecluse into not just a very good restaurant but also a great place to meet up and chill out. Not cheap,...but not expensive either, given that the portions you get are copious and presented in gourmet style. If you’re not over-peckish, ask to share a starter. The wine is good and not exorbitantly overpriced while the desserts are fit for someone who basically likes desserts. The staff are efficient and helpful and won’t try and get rid of you as soon as you finish your last morsel. It's wheelchair and children friendly. Try and park early though. You’re on the Siagne river, at least in summer, with the lock (ecluse) upstream. You’ll thus have ducks and carp for company during the day. On summer evenings take the normal mosquito repellent. Lunchtime is a great way to appreciate everything unless you’re in a romantic mood. As well as its gourmet side, l’Ecluse also provides good quality fast-food for those who may or may not be on the riverside walk to Auribeau. On top of that there’s apero time when you can sit with your chosen beverage, eat antipasti à la tapas and watch the ducks go to bed. If you’re going in the evening and like a bit of peace and quiet, phone to check if there’s not a wedding reception or its equivalent going on. All in all a place to go to or, if you were there during the re-opening, to give another chance. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
We give this place 5 stars because the location is only breathtaking. You have to go out your way to find it, but as soon as you are there and have a river view, everything is right with the world. The menu is classic and... there is something for everyone. While you are waiting for your dishes to be cooked (it has all tasted very fresh), you can observe the entertainment on the river: ducks and moor hens jostling for position; Trouts swim up and down and catch flies on the water surface and the strange tourists try to stand straight on a paddleboard. Would also recommend the walk along the river before or after the meal. This is really a special place.
Nice lunch with friends. felt comfortable as there are many cans img between tables and not overfilled. Nice food, well presented and very friendly staff. Look forward to the return!
