Would definitely go back for more.. *some people really prefer to have the house tea rather than other drinks so please do not forget to provide it if a guest for some.
Modern Shanghai for me is just an upscale Chinese restaurant. The service is great as the servers were very attentive but for the food... it was just normal; nothing special about it. Ordered Xiao Long Bao, Hakaw, Steamed fish, and Yangchao fried rice -- got a bill of 1,000. I've got no problems about how expensive it is but main point is, you can find different alternative for a Chinese restaurant which serves cheaper prices with better taste of food. ☺️
One of okay restaurants I've been to. The place is spacious but they lack of ventilation/aircon. The crew and staff are all accommodating and nice! The food is okay. But I find the serving a bit small. Good food and experience all in all! :)
Was finally able to use the GCs given to us by Zomato during our visit. The fiid was generally good. Service was excellent, but some if the dishes could be improved on. The sweet and sour pork ribs lacked flavour and had a "flour-y" taste to it, but the meat was tender and juice. Modern Shanghai seafood fried rice was awesome! And the pork siomai which was one of the best we've had even though it was quite pricey. The classic xiao long bao was good too, but they couldve plated it better since they got stuch to each other and the soup leaked out all of them.
It's my second time to eat here. The first time was when xiao long bao wasn't even famous here in Manila. Just like the first try, Modern Shanghai's dumplings didn't fail to impress me. 1. Xiao Long Bao - To be honest, it tastes better than DTF's xiao long bao. It has more soup and minced pork inside. 2. Premium Steamed Shrimp and Pork Siumai - I love their siumai! Probably one of the best that I have tried. It has generous amout of pork inside and topped with steamed shrimp. 3. Steamed Shrimp Dumplings "Hakaw" - I was very disappointed with their hakaw. The shrimp was spilling out of the wrapper, it was not of good quality. Even in the dimsum container, you can actually see that the wrapper was tearing apart. On a positive note, the shrimp tastes really good and they put a generous amount of shrimp inside. The dimsum was packed with shrimp. 4. Sweet and Sour Pork - Just your regular sweet and sour dish but two thumbs up for their tender pork. 5. Beef with Brocolli - The beef was tough and over seasoned. And their menu says that it's USDA beef so I was expecting that it would be tender. On the other hand, the brocolli looks so green and fresh, it was really crunchy too. We also tried their Fried Squid, Fried Shrimp, and Hainanese Chicken. They all taste good.
