Sophie's Cuppa Tea - Oakland

This is a wonderful venue for tea lovers and novices alike! John and Bae are kind, knowledgeable and warm hosts/educators. I love the unique selection of delicious teas, the yummy snacks and the great company that this tea shop inevitably provides. :

I've fallen in love. With a tea shop. #noshame Groups of cute elementary kids doing their homework (and combining all their coins to share a huge cup of herbal tea ...a sweet grandmother playing cards with her little grandson...senior members of the community sitting back and philosophizing as they sip their cups... and all in the midst of the most perfect feng shui, including gorgeous lighting. (not to mention, the tea here is DAMN good! I feel like every community-gathering place should be like this. Feels like a yummy, welcoming, glorious slice of home. <3

Excellent tea shop. They direct source all of their tea from farms they have visited! They know the farmers and the processing and are wonderful hosts who are happy to share their knowledge with you.

Very serene environment. Beautiful teapots and large varieties of teas. They are friendly and very knowledgeable about the teas and will offer recommendations based on what you are craving. Wonderful assortment of goodies, ranging from sugar free, gluten free and vegan.

I popped into this lovely tea shop and was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming owners, warm smiles, and wonderful knowledge they gave me, not even knowing me! The tea was delicious, but also what struck me was their willingness to share information about the tea process, answering my questions about tea farming in North Georgia/China, and being open to discussion with a respect for tea, a kind heart and genuine spirit. I didn't want to leave! (but hubby was waiting patiently in car). I so look forward to returning again and creating a beautiful new network of friends at Sophie's. Peace.
