My wife and I visit Niagara Falls a few times a year, living close by in Toronto it's a fun and quick weekend getaway for us. We have been to this particular restaurant many times, not sure what's happened to it over the years, but it pales in comparison to other restaurants on the strip. Service is slow, even on off peak times, the wait staff slow, and seem uninterested, and food portions small. As for the price, not even close to being worth it. We should have gone to the Keg, around the corner.
Went for supper this past Monday with some skepticism given the average rating of the reviews. However, we experienced fast, friendly efficient service. The food was very good. I had the sheppard's pie and thought it was delicious. Great place for families since kids do eat for free. Well located.
While on a lovely vacation to Niagara Falls, my boyfriend and I wanted to grab a quick bite before our evening plans and we were armed with an Applebee's gift card from the states, so we stopped by here. Oops. They weren't even that busy, but somehow our waitress took several minutes to show up to even say hi and bring us water. The food was ok, but definitely overpriced. Even with our gift card, we still paid more out of pocket than if we would have gone somewhere else. When we were finished with our meals, we had to wait no less than half an hour for the bill - and even then we didn't get it from our waitress. My boyfriend had to get up and track someone down and ask for it. The table next to us experienced the same thing, as we saw them looking annoyed and bored long after finishing their meals while complaining amongst themselves that they didn't want to be there all night. When we finally got our bill from the waitress, we had to wait for the manager to show up to process the gift card - which took another 15 minutes. For the rest of the bill we were paying cash and she told us we could just leave the whole dollars (which would have meant a $3 tip for the waitress) or we could sit and wait some more for her to come by, take the money, and bring the change. We really didn't want to tip, but we also didn't want to sit there for a minute more than we had already. So a "cheap quick bite" turned into an expensive two-hour ordeal. We'll just go to Burger King next time.
Only one other table occupied when we (party of two) showed up. I had to ask for a waitress to come to our table. Took about 10 minutes for the waitress to show up and then another 45 minutes to get a fish platter and salad delivered to the table. And that was only after I asked for the check (we were leaving). Once I said we were leaving, the food came out. Turned the fish on its side and watched the grease run off. Fries were spongy and cold. We decided to pay for what was delivered and go elsewhere. And after all that time, and after pointing out the condition of our "dinner", my wife asked if we were going to be compensated for the poor service. We still were charged full price. Did I mention there was only one other table occupied. I think I know why. On the bright side, FRIDAY's down the street provided excellent service and a great meal - all for a very reasonable price. Too many eateries in the area to decide on this one. I say keep walking till you reach one of them.
