Golden Fleece - Newham

I attended this pub on my own for 4 years whilst living in Manor Park (where I had never lived before) and I must admit the pub in the last 18 months pre post covid has been fantastic. The staff are welcoming, the atmosphere is great on weekends and it’s a great setting next to Wanstead Flats in the summer.It’s a pub and that’s what you should expect, nothing is perfect, however with the quizzes, live music from time to time, showing the football/sport in general and friendly regulars this pub has been a great place to be.I would recommend on a number of levels

Just an amazing venue. The staff are amazing and a big shout out to Duty Manager Taylor, his customer service skills are 5*.Amazing prices on drinks, ive never heard of a double grey goose with mixer for £6 just wow Lovely atmosphere, great entertainment in the form of karaoke and cant wait to come back next time!!!

My husband and I, used the fleece when we were courting 45 years ago and it was the 'in 'pub at the time especially in the summer. We or course have carried on using it over the years and have seen many changes. What I must say is the welcome as always as been warm and friendly from all the different staff that have come and gone. So when my mum passed I did not hesitate to arrange the wake at the fleece. Again the staff were at their best nothing was to much trouble and the Buffet was excellent . On such a sad day we could not have asked for better service. I thank you all. Let 's hope the fleece survives another 45 years.

I always bring my elderly father here when he is visiting from the North. There's plenty of room to accommodate his walking issues and the staff are very helpful. He really enjoys it, as its very affordable and the prices are no where near some of the other local establishments that he now refuses to go to. On the food front, don't expect haute cuisine and you won't be disappointed; always hot and presented well as far as our experience has been. They now have a much better selection of wines and the Amodo sparkly is very good IMHO. The Wednesday night quiz is a firm favourite in our house, along with the Garden in the summer months and it's Dog friendly to boot . Keep up the upwards trend.
