Taverna Newark

Eating was amazing. good portions, in any case again.

My husband I came to UD to take our daughter and her roommate out to dinner. I ordered the chicken ravioli…. Very good!! The chicken Taverna is also very good but…. Rigatoni with sausage was missing the sausage … just a few bites of sausage was added so it was mostly a Rigatoni meal. Calamari appetizer was delish the garlic bread!!

Beautiful old building and great vibe. The front end near the bar was much quieter than when we were seated in the rear. Personally we prefer a quieter setting. I could barely understand what the waiter said due to the noise level. The pizza was ok, I ordered the Margherita pizza and it had very little mozzarella on it, like one slice had none. My husbands pepperoni pizza was quite crispy. Our server was slow to check in an return to the table. I would be willing to try it again at a different time.

Staff was very pleasant. A wonderful place to have dinner. The food came from the kitchen very quickly. I will come back again.

My wife and I have been going to Taverna since it opened. We have always enjoyed their sister location Capers and Lemons and the Newark location does not disappoint. With Newark being the hub for the U of DE, restaurants in the area do not have the employee problems other out of town places have. There were plenty of wait staff, bartenders, and hostesses taking care of all the customers. The food is fresh, and the orders are a good size. No one leaves here hungry. Great beer and wine selection too. We were celebrating our anniversary and had a great meal.
