What a hidden gem! It’s only open on Friday and Saturday nights, and I’m so glad it was Friday! At first, it felt like our navigation was taking us to the wrong spot, but we finally found it on the outskirts of Minden. The concise menu was a refreshing change from the overwhelming options offered at many restaurants. Dining family style was a fun experience, and we left feeling full, revitalized, and pleasantly surprised by the bill—it was very reasonably priced. Our only regret was not checking on lodging availability; it seemed like a lovely place to stay.

The home-cooked food is incredible! It's a fantastic venue for hosting events such as family anniversaries, birthdays, or rehearsal dinners for weddings.

After dinner on Friday night, we found that the food was prepared in a traditional, straightforward manner, reminiscent of home-style cooking. While it was somewhat plain and lacking in seasoning, everything was handmade with care. We tried the brisket and chicken, both of which were tasty. The scalloped potatoes and baked beans were also delicious, with the beans probably being our favorite. For dessert, we shared a brownie and a mud pie cake, the latter being something we hadn’t tried before. A glass of white Moscato paired nicely with our meal, and we noted that they offer small bottles from Sutter Home, suggesting that alcohol isn’t heavily featured here. The owner, Bob, stopped by to share a fascinating story about the restaurant and the history of the land, explaining that his wife’s family homesteaded it long ago. She manages the lodge, which is part of the original house. Although we didn’t take a tour of the lodge or bed and breakfast, the history was captivating, and the staff created a pleasant atmosphere for our visit. Special events can also be booked here, and the restaurant itself was once a barn, though there’s little evidence of that left now. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with wonderful stories, friendly staff, and a charming atmosphere.
