El Rey Mexican Kitchen - Mesa

My wife and I decided to go for some seafood for an early dinner/late lunch around 3 PM. We were greeted and seated immediately, and our drink orders were taken quickly. The food came out remarkably fast, and our server consistently checked in on us. The dishes were incredibly tasty. This was our first time at El Rey, but it certainly won't be our last. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Mexican-style seafood or is interested in trying it.

We've been regulars at this restaurant for quite some time and have always enjoyed our visits. However, after the recent remodel, our experience has taken a turn for the worse. On our visit today, we ended up leaving before our food arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, yet it was nearly impossible to get the waitstaff's attention. It's disheartening to say that we won't be coming back. We traveled all the way from Queen Creek, but we left without even tasting the food and only paid for our drinks. My husband is more than willing to pay the full bill and tip generously, but the service was simply unacceptable.

It was also difficult to get the waitress's attention. Despite the restaurant not being busy at all, she seldom came by to check on us. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and we won’t be coming back.

I love it! Very beautiful created, the food is really good, I had brunch and lunch a couple of times and it’s always on point. The service is great, the manager went to our table to ask how was everything, we appreciate the extra effort. If you are looking to a new brunch restaurant go check it out! We live nearby and watched as businesses fell victim to the pandemic. This restaurant continued to have a strong following, so we came and tried it and loved it.I had the fajitas and they were fantastic. My wife had the molcajete and I had to try her grilled nopalitos, which were the best I’ve had.Staff was attentive and helpful. Don’t sleep on this place. The whole corner is getting a facelift, but this place was clean inside, recently remodeled, well lit, and had a great menu with seafood and other options.
