Bidrage med feedbackWe had the traditional steak with rutabaga Cornish pasty with gravy. Hands down the best either of us has ever had. Sad news kids, he's retiring and closing Jean Kay at the end of December 2022. Enjoy while you can!
We had tried pasties in South Dakota and didn’t understand the fuss. We travel to the UP often and a friend convinced us to give them another try. Jean Kay’s completely changed our minds about pasties. We are so grateful to have experienced Jean Kay’s and to have met Brian before they close the doors forever in December. We had the Traditional and the Veggie. Flaky crust with tender morsels inside. So good! Get the potato salad with bacon. Trust me. Planning to go back before we head home.
Never had a pasty before as I’m not from the area, and this was the first place I landed on. Went in without expectations and came out having my expectations thoroughly exceeded. Got the vegetable pasty, such a good, deeply flavored dish. Layers of deliciousness and melted feta cheese and nice flaky crust. Wish these were popular where I live in Washington! AND SO CHEAP I couldn’t believe it was only like $7.75 or so. I was expecting I’d need to buy two but one filled me up so perfectly. Definitely something I would expect to be $12.
Coming from Georgia, my boyfriend and I knew we must try pasties. We had tried two places in St. Ignace and they were good. But Jean Kay’s were THE best, no doubt. Hope we get back to Marquette.
We ordered the regular pasty with the beef gravy. It was absolutely delicious. Small building with limited indoor and outdoor seating but don't let that stop you. Quick service and friendly staff. We even purchased more to take home!
