Rose Garden - Mamallapuram

Sorry " truth B " but Rose Garden is still on the same place in Mamallapuram.During our last trip in february we visited Rose Garden again. It still is in the same place ( opposite the temple tank near the Shore Temple ) and it is even more busy then it was . Most of the visitors are local people on holiday. The food they serve is fresh and hot.You can see the kitchen through a little serving window in the restaurant. This time we had a piping hot, not to spicy but seasoned in a fantastic way chicken biriyani. Just try it and just like we did ... you will be back.

I apologize for being honest, but Rose Garden is still in the same location in Mamallapuram. During our most recent trip in February, we revisited Rose Garden and found that it is still situated in the same spot across from the temple tank near the Shore Temple. It is now much busier than before, with the majority of visitors being locals on holiday. The food served is fresh and hot, and you can even see into the kitchen through a small server window in the restaurant. This time, we tried the spicy and flavorful Hyderabadi biryani, which was fantastic. Give it a try and you'll understand why we will definitely be returning.

You must try this restaurant. The food is delicious, especially the fish.

Dieses Restaurant existiert nicht mehr, es wird zwar in der neuesten Ausgabe des Reise KnowHow noch geführt und es wird auch an etlichen Stellen im Internet erwähnt, es gibt aber vor Ort keinerlei Hinweis mehr darauf.

Since 2005 we have been traveling to India and one of the places we visited this year is Mamallapuram. It is difficult to avoid the wellknown restaurants but do try a REAL local restaurant.On the Beach Road to the Shoretempel you will find Rose Garden restaurant, just in front of the Temple Tank.It is a restaurant for the Indian tourists but do go in. They will serve you fantastic local food . All freshly prepared the same morning, Vegetarian or chicken birayani, yummy yummy !! Do ask if they have the fish fry. Catch of the day marinated with local made spices and that really is a treat.Tali is also available and surely you will have no regrets.If you want to make a tour of South India the son of the owner has his own well maintained car and will take you on a tour of South India . His name is Shekhar and we had a wonderfull tour with him. He took us on a tour of the Temple city's over Kovalam and ended in Cochin (Kerala)Everyday he surprised us with his knowledge of the region, the people, the food, the habits, the spices ...... you name it . His tours are like the food in Rose Garden ! A must if you want to visit the real Tamil Nadu and Kerala !!!
