In 2022 we were ignored by the host several times. So I rated the restaurant with only one star. In response to this bad review, Mr. Binnemann contacted me immediately, apologized and asked for a second chance. Today we went to the Bären restaurant again. We sat at the round table in the middle of the dining room. Ms. Binnemann walked past our table probably 10 times, no “Grüezi”, no “En Guetä”! Mr. Binnemann was also seen briefly at the next table. You don't feel welcome here! It's a shame for the good cuisine and the very friendly staff. Perhaps today's hosts should have looked over the shoulders of their predecessors (Fam Ingold) for longer. The bear is definitely no longer an option for us, even though we are often in this area. Correction: I apologize for the mix-up, it was a tall, blonde, rather strong employee!
Ohne Reservation an einem sonnigen Samstag über Mittag auf der Matte stehend, bekamen wir einen Tisch für zwei im stimmigen Garten zugewiesen, dies bei praktisch voller Ausbuchung (mit auffällig vielen Velosportliebhabern). Wir entschieden uns für einen Dreigänger für 79 Franken und je ein Glas Wein zu jedem Gang für 26 Franken. Die nicht gerade wohlfeilen Preise liessen die Erwartungen nach oben ausschlagen. Und in der Tat: Die Vorfreude wurde voll erfüllt. Die Speisen beglückten mir einer ausserordentlichen Geschmacksfülle, wobei bei allen Gängen (Vorspeise, Hauptgang, Dessert) Basilikum präsent war, eingeschlossen die Dekoration des Gartens mit Töpfchen von Basilikum. Sympathisches und kompetentes Servicepersonal (mit Erklärungen zu den gereichten Speisen) rundete den positiven Gesamteindruck ab. Schlussbemerkung: Das Haus versprüht viel Ursprünglichkeit und eine Stimmung wie zu Gotthelfs Zeiten; die Eigentümer können einer Überrenovation widerstehen.

Our overnight visit to Bären Madiswil was a wonderful experience from start to finish with many great surprises. The rooms are very nicely decorated and very clean. The garden, a cozy place that makes you want to stay. Just beautiful. Dinner a poem. The starters, tartare and tomato mozzarella salad with basil pesto, were perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. But the highlight for us was the main course. Herb quark spaetzli with beef stroganoff. The meat was cooked to perfection, the spaetzli were crispy/fluffy and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. Simply a poem. You can't do it better. The service was very friendly, competent and attentive. Momo the restaurant manager is the perfect host and is always up for a bit of fun. Thank you very much to everyone. You're great.
