El Molcajete Mexican Grill - Madison

Do not waste your money! We arrived at 12:30 on a Friday and found the buffet almost empty, with only a few tamales available. There were a few other items, but they had clearly been out since 11 AM. We kept asking when more food would be served, but nothing changed. We didn't even receive chips and salsa. To top it off, I was blocked on Facebook for sharing my experience. This place really needs to make some serious improvements!

The food and service here are the best in town, and we are regular customers. However, one thing to note is that their business hours are not accurate; they open earlier and close later than what is listed on Google.

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the service is quite good. The chips and salsa were enjoyable. However, the food was a significant letdown. It was some of the worst Mexican food I've ever experienced. The taco was served cold, and the burrito was both bland and greasy. I might return for drinks and nachos, but I definitely won't be dining here again.

We went to try the buffet on a Sunday afternoon and were super disappointed. They had very few options…no enchiladas, tamalas, burritos, etc. All of the food was dry and cold!! For $13.99 a person you’d be better off to go somewhere else. We will definitely not be back.

Was wanting to try the buffet. It needs work. Not much to choose from. Mostly chicken. No enchiladas, no tamales, no guacamole, just a pan of plain ground beef. Mostly soups or something. May try again sometime from menu and see if better. Sopapillia was nacho chips with sugar and cinnamon not fluffy dessert. May try again.
