So happy to find this place! sooo good and authentic! highly recommended!
Oh, my God. I finally made it to oasis and discovered what everyone is talking about. great Caribbean cuisine and friendly people. huge part of red beans and tears. perfectly damped and flavored cauliflower. and these humble pieces of jowl? out. of. that's all. I wish they were open more than Friday, and the Jamaican advertiser! try this place – they are a jewel in lynchburg.
It was definitely worth the wait. I got the Oasis platter, Family Plater1 and Baklava wow! Enough food to feed a small army. They were running a little behind and for this they gave me a large bowl of lintel soup. Amazing customer service and food!!!
My Lebanese stepbrother and I had been here before when they first opened a couple of years ago and were not impressed with the food and preparation as it relates to Authenticity. I heard there had been changes etc. from others and that I should give it another try. I ordered a beef shawarma. What I was served was something more like a flavorlite steak burrito of a sorts, with no shaved marinated meat carved from the slowly cooking rotisserie as is common if a Shawarma. Overcooked fully charred to bitter beef tip chunks scattered in the midst of what was anticipated to be much more like what I am used to, here in Lynchburg, or Virginia, Canada, and almost everywhere else I have been where a Real Shawarma was on the menu. Two years ago a similar experience when we visited the manager/owner/family said that their version of overcooked meat and bland flavors was AmericanStyle. Maybe it still is. But a Shawarma by any definition, this was not. I did find it interesting that when the person came out to give me my take out container and cash he wore no mask, although I was forced to wear one by sign to enter.
