Water Street Tavern Inn - Lubec

I ate here twice during my stay in Lubec. This restaurant has it all--an amazing view and ambiance, friendly and personal staff, and delicious seafood. My first night, I enjoyed the mussels appetizer with garlic bread. The seafood was steamed in a fantastic lemony garlic sauce and the garlic roll was fresh and hot. The restaurant was lively late into the evening. I was so excited on my second night to enjoy a lobster with sweet potato fries and cooked carrots. The owner of the restaurant was sweet to introduce herself and share the history of the the two hundred-year old building. I am from Maine, so know a good sized lobster when I see one--this one was huge! Cooked perfectly. Lastly, I enjoyed a warm slice of strawberry rhubarb pie and vanilla ice cream. This was a meal that brings me back to my idyllic childhood in Maine. I look forward to returning!

My in-laws wanted to go out for dinner while we stayed at a cottage in Lubec. Hardly anything was open (late June), so we picked the inn out of necessity. It was packed! The owner seated us promptly and the staff went out of their way to communicate and bring bread while we waited. The seafood was great and the atmosphere was ideal for a hearty meal with family. I was grateful for such attentive service, and for the hardworking kitchen.

The food was high end and the service was impeccable. Small town restaurant but big city dining. Highly recommend this place along with its spectacular deserts.

In town for a one night stay up the road and booked a table for dinner at 7:30. They called just before 7:00 to say our table was ready and off we went. I almost ordered the lobster dinner but was distracted by the Moqueca, a Brazilian seafood stew made with coconut milk. Just the most delicately seasoned, perfectly prepared dish! And my husband thoroughly enjoyed his duck with orange sauce. When they said generous pours of wine they meant it. Standard restaurant pour is about 5 oz and theirs was easily double that. Great evening and if you find yourself nearby you should definitely grab a seat.

Good food and s really solid bar scene at a gorgeous location. Been a good place to go for years.
