Bidrage med feedbackAs an Austrian: Coming here when in London always feels like going to a restaurant at home. Authentic Austrian food and atmosphere, no touristy-cliché vibe, just really chill. The staff are lovely, some even speak German/Austrian! Huge recommendation!
If you're craving schnitzel, this small spot tucked away in a small street of Islington is the place to be. Service was very fast. The goulash was alright, but we loved the veal schnitzel. We got another meat dish to try several dishes, but we wished we got two of the veal schnitzel!
I'm an Austrian, born in Vienna and here is what I think. The Frittatensuppe was good, could have been hotter. The Schnitzel was delicious, the Kaiserschmarrn was more like a cake thing with butter and sugar. Tasted alright, but a Kaiserschmarrn is supposed to be heaven and that wasn't heaven. The apple juice was meh. At least I know where to get a Schnitzel if I need one, will come back to review their cakes ; Atmosphere is great btw!
Ordered the schnitzel, and although krispy, the veal was rather dry. But the shocking disappointment was the basic boiled potatoes buried underneath. They tasted as if they were made maybe a day before. Chalky texture, musty, and flat. Didn't touch them after a bite. If you're going to be serving a meal with such minimal ingredients, take some pride to execute them well.
Lovely atmosphere and a great restaurant with attentive staff.
