Bidrage med feedbackI travel a lot for work. The Location of the hotel was good. Rooms are noisy with single glaze window, fridge is empty. Squeaky floor, Lack of toiletries that you find in 5 star hotel.. Not all The staff are trained to the standard of a 5 star hotel. Room service had to deliver a simple breakfast order over 3 attempt. The house keeping calls the room even when they see dont disturb to ask when I am going to leave the room! . Front desk asked me to sort the reservation with the bar directly as its full and he could not be bothered to find a solution when I mentioned that i could not get a booking through out my stay. The female staff at front desk where much more skilled to handle front desk then the men specially the young one. Head to Connaught hotel for a proper old school hotel service and great bar!
Skip it. The famous bar and its martini are overhyped. Only hotel guests can make bar reservations. It’s not worth the wait to get in if you don’t have them. The vibe is jostle. Interiors are claustrophobic. It’s not a luxury experience.
My friend booked the restaurant not the bar. I arrived at the bar and was treated really poorly by staff. We went to the restaurant and were told only certain drinks available (only processco) Cannot fault the lovely woman who attended on us at the restaurant (which was empty) but the policy seems strange and exclusive to the point of being classist. The policy of not allowing anyone by hotel guests to book is understanable but the way it was communicated was poorly and with the utmost disrespect from staff. The website should have been clearer. The true story here is the establishment generally have an interest in serving and treating the rich with respect the rest of us who may be looking for an expensive treat as a one off will be shunned.
The hotel is incredibly disorganized. Let’s hope that it’s due to COVID and that they had to lay off essential staff and that it will improve over time. We had mistake after mistake mixing up of rooms not confirming bookings of meeting rooms staff not being informed of reservations nor being able to assist. Not to mention the absolutely appalling service at the bar the manager is grumpy, downright rude and potentially the worst experience I’ve ever had in london (I lived there 16 years. It’s true what the other reviews say listen and DONT GO. The bar might be legendary but there are plenty of other places to go that are worth it. At the end of the day, the guest feels like the fool as the prices are high at this hotel and at the moment it’s not worth it. It’s overdue a makeover looking a little like a retirement home, with staff that should retire, and definitely no longer a “luxury” hotel .
5 stars… out of 10 maybe? Half the staff was extremely rude, furniture was outdated, bed very uncomfortable, shower water pressure was so hard it hurt, but the worst was the AC unit in our room that made an extremely loud buzzing sound (whether on or off) every few minutes that kept us up all night. After mentioning this to the front desk, they did absolutely nothing to help us and even said this happens in every room at the hotel. In what world is that 5 star service? If you value sleep and your dignity DON’T STAY HERE.
