Bidrage med feedbackWe stopped into Blue Mountains Hotel on our way back to Sydney for an early Sunday dinner. We were made to feel right at home as soon as we walked in the door. We sat right near the kids corner where my toddler happily played. The staff were super friendly and accomodating. Our food was super quick and **** delicious! Honestly would drive there from Sydney just for those chips! Will definitely be back.
Booked for 24 (including 10 children aged 1-13) the day before. Lovely table set up for us near the kid's play corner. ALL the meals were good, some absolutely amazing and all were very generous portions including the children's meals. Kitchen and bar staff were helpful and the place was lovely and warm from an open fire in a room off the other side of the bar. The Poker Machine Room is totally separate and closed to the Dining Room and diners can also spill over into booths and tables on one side of the bar (again separate from TAB/Poker Machine Room etc). TOTALLY suitable for a family meal and get together. There was also no rush to have us leave after we had eaten AMAZING. Can't recommend highly enough.
We've eaten here a few times and the meals have always been good, generous, modern cuisine. The stuffed chicken breast was lovely, not overcooked and spicy enough. I've also had fish and chips, very good and all good value. The staff are friendly and very helpful. What did rather spoil the night was that when we bought our bottle of wine in the internal wine shop we were charged corkage as if we had brought it with us from outside. Obviously you don't take a bottle of wine to a pub restaurant. I think this needs to be sorted out.
This is a lovely old pub with stain glass windows, a fireplace and a wide selection of beer. During the colder months, it is a good rest stop especially if the fire is going. We have been dropping in for an occasional meal for five or so years. There have been changes during those years, with new cafes and eateries, and there is now more competition for food outlets in Lawson, but as I like old pubs, I keep coming back. The last few years we have only had the lunch time special at the pub, $12.50, a choice of steak, chicken or fish or something similar, which includes a house beer or a glass of wine. Good value, but don't expect too much from the meal. I have always enjoyed my steak, the fact that it can give your jaw a workout does not worry me, as long as it is char grilled and tasty. Unfortunately my wife disagrees and drew the attention of the chef to the amount of gristle left on her plate. My wife thought chef may welcome the feedback. He replied "what do you expect for a lunch time special?" Apart from his Fawlty Towers humour, the staff are always helpful and meals are served promptly so travellers can resume their journeys. Well worth a visit, and perhaps chef is right, "if you are chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle."
Do yourself a favour and stop at one of the few Pubs along the highway in The Blue Mountains. It has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere as well as friendly staff, kids play corner and menu that caters well to all. Parking at rear is helpfull or the railway station is directly across the road.
