Nuzback's - Laurel

It's not the Taj Mahal Palace, but during the day, it's a great spot for good food and beer. The bartenders and servers are truly outstanding. The prices are quite reasonable. While some of the patrons are friendly, there are others you'd do well to ignore.

This bar is a hidden gem that could really use some renovations, but their power hour at 5:30 is decent and budget-friendly. The bar service can be inconsistent; some customers have a great experience while others do not, depending on who's behind the bar. Unfortunately, I often have to wave to get the bartenders' attention for a refill, a beer, or even a napkin, especially when they walk right by as if I’m invisible. That’s not ideal...just saying.

The drinks are affordable, but that’s mainly because the alcohol they use is of low quality, which isn't my main concern with this establishment. I witnessed two Black gentlemen being racially profiled and treated poorly. An older white woman working there constantly approached them, making comments about their appearance and clothes while they were just trying to enjoy their meal. She even told them their outfits were inappropriate, even though they were simply wearing sweatshirts. The entire bar was watching this unfold, and because of this experience, I won’t be returning.

Our hockey team was in town for a night and stayed at the hotel nearby. We were not disappointed with this place. It was clear that we were a bit outside the city, but the bartenders and staff welcomed us like family. The food was fantastic, the drinks were ice cold, and the service was outstanding. We enjoyed every moment and will definitely return the next time we’re in town.

The atmosphere is very laid-back and casual. The server is really cool and knows many of the regulars. It's definitely a great place to unwind and chill without needing to dress up. It works well as a spot to visit before or after an event. The drinks are good, but the food could use some improvement.
