Bidrage med feedbackWe had a great experience at Midori! The portions were generous, and the ingredients were fresh. I was particularly fond of the smashed and deep-fried egg roll, which added an unexpected touch of Chinese take-out flavor to our meal, and the salad with its perfectly balanced sesame dressing. However, we deducted two stars due to the disappointing live entertainment. During our visit on a recent Monday evening, we were seated outside on the lovely patio, but the live performance was marred by a whiny young man who repeatedly shared how drunk he had been the night before, his current hangover, and his eagerness to get drunk again while performing. It was quite off-putting, and we will definitely call ahead next time to check if there will be live music during our visit!
Fantastic sushi I just wish I could get in there more often it's always packed and closes early and no reservations for groups under 6. :
I started with the spring rolls, which were quite small, and then tried the tempura shrimp and their signature Kamikaze roll. Both were very tasty and served piping hot; I love spicy food, and who doesn't? However, I have a couple of minor criticisms. They only offer one dipping sauce for the appetizers, which is a spicy Thai chili sauce that I could easily find at Costco. Additionally, the tempura would have benefited from a milder sauce as well. Another letdown was the tempura itself; it didn’t have the traditional Panko crumb coating I expected. Instead, it was a different, doughy breading that was just okay. Despite these few disappointments, I still recommend giving it a try. I might even return myself. Hope to see you there!
Ordered some sushi and veggie fried rice. The rice was extremely wet, not really like any fried rice I've ever had before. The avocado Maki was good but the eel roll was probably made from frozen eel, it was very cold and unappetizing. We asked the server if the dynamite roll had real crab meat or if it was crab stick. She said it was real crab. Unfortunately, it turned out to be crab stick... Finally the tempura was just fried food. It was not fluffy and crispy like tempura should be. We did see another table order burgers which looked good, though. Service was great, though.
In Grand Bend to reconnect with an old friend and he was raving about Midori so headed here for lunch. It sits on the Main Street with plenty of foot traffic. They have a nice large patio and I can understand why it is often quite busy. The staff were friendly and attentive and no issues with the service. Residing in Vancouver, we have so many sushi establishments so I will refrain from any comparisons. I ordered the kamikaze roll and a tuna roll. The taste was okay and the presentation was quite good. Pleasantly surprised to find this little gem in Grand Bend and happy to recommend Midori.
