Seacoast Beer Tasting Lab - KITTERY

The restaurant promotes a dog-friendly patio, but they do not allow you to feed your dog (not even kibble or treats) while you are there. I've never encountered this policy anywhere else in the state, or even in nearby states or Canada. Additionally, we waited 25 minutes for a watered-down cocktail. The waitstaff were rather unfriendly, leaving me to wonder why they seemed intent on ruining our evening. I recommend avoiding this place; they clearly need to improve their service.

In terms of food, my girlfriend chose the clam chowder appetizer, which she thoroughly enjoyed, while I went for the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were sizable and meaty—exceptionally juicy and tasty. For our main courses, she had the fried fish sandwich, and I opted for the fish and chips. Both portions were enormous, much larger than we anticipated, and the fish in both dishes was exceptional: flaky, flavorful, and cooked just right. We will certainly return on our next visit to Portsmouth!

I would rate this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars for its overall presentation. Unfortunately, it misses out on the fifth star due to some service issues and the food being good but not outstanding. It doesn't fully match its price and reputation. My friend and I ordered the lobster pasta, one of their most expensive dishes at $42. While it was enjoyable, it didn't really justify the price. I had high hopes for Row 34 but was somewhat let down. Nevertheless, I would still recommend it, particularly for a date night.

My last visit included a rather overcooked fish and chips, but this time I was pleasantly surprised by a moist and creative hake dish. It was a delightful experience at a reasonable price, which helped offset the cost of the oysters!

We had a wonderful dinner! We started with oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, and a small plate of whitefish salad. For the main course, we indulged in lobster pasta, Maine crab with fresh pasta, and a small plate of tuna tartare. Each bite was full of flavor. Row 34 is definitely a restaurant we'll come back to every time we're in Portsmouth. Our server, Julia, was also fantastic!
