Gillies Grill - Kearney

I traveled a lot for work and just came to stop at Kearney for the night. I grilled various bars in the area. Originally I was really excited to go here because it was St. Paddy's Day and I wanted to find a good bar with food and good vibes. Everything was good until one of the bartenders got grumpy because I had a question about my food. The shorter dark haired girl with the blonde pieces before her hair and a green hat. It wasn't Carly(she was super nice) I understand that she employs REALLY drinks, so stress was high. But I was patient. I ordered beef and cabbage. At first she said they ran out. But then she came back and said they had something left and she put a record on me. I assumed they probably scraped off the last of what was left on my plate, because after further inspection I realized that there was NO meat, hardly any cabbage, quite a lot only potatoes. I asked the other guy behind the counter for help (to not disturb her again) if I could get more of whatever she had left. But he didn't know about the food, so he still asked her. She came to me, asked what I needed, then after I told her that she looked out with Carly (the other female bartender) and rolled her eyes on me. She thought I hadn't seen her because she had turned to me a little... but I have... Then they brought back a small bowl of corned beef. That made me wonder why they didn't give me meat the first time? Anyway, as the first timer in this bar to visit pure from the good reviews, I will say I am DISAPPOINTED. This interaction made me feel so uncomfortable that I wanted to go right away. The only reason I stayed a little longer was because I met a SUPER sweet girl at the bar (Morgan), who also only happens to work there. She saw that I was angry and did what she could to make sure that I was comfortable and had a good time. Seriously! Great customer service at the end and she wasn't even in service. I didn't avoid the bartender's order anymore because I didn't want to annoy them anymore. ? I would not recommend Gillies based SOLEY to the bartender's attitude. I will admit that her attitude has improved somewhat later and I think it is because she realized that she had to roll her eyes on me and that she had to cool out. Maybe I could recommend this place after getting a customer service training.

It's a diving bay. Great atmosphere, food and service for what it is. If you want pleasure and culture, you will be disappointed. If you want great people and very reasonable prices, this is the place to go. Food: 5/5

As a Christmas tradition, a group of friends have a few drinks together. Tonight we chose Gillies... what a great choice! The kitchen was closed so we were unable to sample each of the foods on the amazing sound menu, but we will be back! The bar is small and intimate, but very friendly. The bartenders were amazing! Also my husband is disabled, both staff and customers went out to make him comfortable and help him to our car on the sidewalk. I would recommend Gillie to everyone I know.

You make the best breakfast Burritos and the bartender was great, she has treated our very loud group well! Food: 5/5
