Up North Grill - Kalkaska

We stopped in Kalkaska on our way home and stopped at the Up North Grill for a late lunch. There were only a few customers at the bar, we sat at a table nearby. Our waitress was awesome and was very attentive to our needs. We ordered a couple appetizers. The Mile High nachos were any but that. They were maybe 2 chips high. For cheese they used the liquid type. Not our favorite.Our other tizer was the wonton. They were good. Will we return? Not until we try all the our restaurants in the area.

I visited for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and found plenty of seating available. The service was quick and friendly. I had a burger while my son opted for the lasagna, and both dishes were excellent. Although the building appears a bit old and looked closed when we arrived, that shouldn't discourage anyone from stopping in for a meal. I would definitely eat here again.

What a fantastic little bar in Kalkaska! The food and service are excellent! The seafood stuffed mushrooms are absolutely delightful, and the French dip is incredible! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

After we had been sitting there for 10 minutes, the waitress served the table next to us with water and took their drink order—even though they had arrived a few minutes after us. We were already considering leaving when she finally took our drink order. However, she only took the orders for 2 out of the 3 of us and then walked away. We decided to leave. Fortunately, that turned out to be a good decision. We found Trout Town Tavern and Eatery, which offered much better service and a more appealing menu. The food was great as well. Skip Up North and head to Trout Town!

We had a nice waiter S . After bringing our food he didn't check on us once. It wasn't busy either. But the 2 other tables he had that had 4 each he checked on them multiple times. The food was a little on the expensive side for a gyro and club. It wasokay but nothing great. This is the 2nd time here and I am sorry to say its not one of our favorite.
