Romy's Kahuku Prawns Shrimp Hut

As a native of the inseln I would recommend romys to any local or visitor. after my experience with her walk-up service today and see the amount of customers who went after informed that we need to wait over an hour. do not let the no line fool them to get a lunch. they take care of their phone instructions about their assistance. I wouldn't recommend it anymore. romys is a single money business that will lose business.

We were very excited to eat here, so the 45 minutes wait to order and wait the 90 minutes until the food was good at us. we ordered a garlic garnel combo and a garnel combo $51 so not a cheap meal. but, okay, that's gonna be delicious, right? the garnels were mild and tasted like cultivated garnel, not fresh garnel, especially since there was no garlic butter taste at all. I notice with the dish on it is more difficult for the taste to get through, but there was no taste at all. the garnels were a better texture, but still no taste. the rice was overcooked. the mais on the cob had bad spots and was unusable. Unfortunately, most of them were thrown away. so disappointed.

Id give them 5 stars however running out of a particular item is what pulled there ratings 2 stars down, and there corn in the cob tasteless, what ever happen to the famous Kahuku sweet corn? we came 2500 miles to come eat at a recommended place Romys by locals and the Hawaiian prawns ran out, so i substituted regular shrimp, food quality was good, wait time 45 mins to 1hr wait there wasn't many customers, for garlic flavored which we waited, i wish something was done too at least minimize the flies when you eat, it's an open air seating area which was good, service was average nothing special, overall some improvements needs some tweeking, but for now, my mind still has Giovanni's ? with my 5 stars, if Romys was to work on the things i stated they'd give Giovannis a run

About half an hour wait- but they warn you everywhere it’s a longer wait. So much garlic. So good I wanted to die. Very flavorful sauce that tastes great with the rice too. Worth it!

Romy's has the greatest quality shrimp out of all the Kahuku shrimp stands. They cook everything fresh, so you will need to be patient for your order. But what you receive is fantastic quality and simply delicious. It's definitely worth the drive for the best shrimp around. My personal favorite is the sweet and spicy shrimp, though the butter garlic is fantastic as well.
