Common Sense Cafe - Island Pond

The restaurant doesn't offer many vegan choices, but we were quite hungry and there aren't many vegan places in Island Pond! We ordered a simple salad and a peanut butter and banana sandwich. The service was a bit slow, but the staff were friendly. The interior had a unique and rustic charm. I didn't realize it was associated with a religious group until I checked Yelp and Google, where I found some comments about its controversial background. As someone who identifies as secular, I didn't feel uncomfortable, although I didn't pay much attention to the décor. I was just there to grab a bite to eat and charge my laptop!

Seafood chowder was excellent. The waitress had no personality and was extremely rude. I'll never go back. No tip for you cept try being FRIENDLY!

The waitress comes from a small town, yet her attitude is surprisingly unpleasant. She has been rude, and has even referred to disabled individuals as "whack jobs" on social media. It’s disheartening to see such a negative demeanor in such a small community.

Had an ok breakfast here on eclipse day. Although the atmosphere was good, the service was unfortunately extremely slow we waited for nearly an hour to be seated, and then another hour to be served, presumably because of the large crowds in town for the event. The breakfast was also just ok the brisket hash omelette was on the bland side and the toast was decent but a bit overdone for my taste. The beans were amazing, however would definitey have those again if I had the chance.
