The Red Lion Great Offley - Hitchin

We made a reservation through OpenTable and received confirmation, but when we arrived, we were informed that they weren't serving food. We left feeling disappointed and had to quickly find something in the freezer to eat. Luckily, I had some leftover turkey curry from Christmas, which was delicious but a bit spicy for my taste!

I found the menu to be a bit disappointing, especially since they no longer offer a three-course lunchtime option. The meatcake was completely tasteless, and one of our three meals was delivered late. To their credit, they apologized when I brought this up, but they mentioned that everyone else loves their meatcakes. It’s a shame because this place has the potential to be a goldmine, especially during lunchtime, if they offered a reasonably priced menu that would attract more retired customers.

Fantastic eating. beautiful country pub with friendly staff.

A very friendly pub with a great Landlady. Beer was kept well and the food, homemade and delicious. I had a steak and ale pie which contain a great portion of good tasting beef.
