Bidrage med feedbackLunch for 8 people, well they felt the pressure as the service was a bit slow with several other tables to service as well. This is very much the definition of a small business, the owner slash chef slash sever tried his hardest to keep everything going, with only one other staff member also run off there feet. Supporting small businesses we where patient, and as long as your not on a set time line like a 45min break, the food was worth the wait. From delicious red curry and simple Thai pork the food was fresh and tasty. The fish special was amazing. Sorry for no photos after the wait we all just dug in. Everyone left with a smile and no complaints with the quality....hunger may have played a factor but 8 from 8 loving it is very rare, so they are doing something very right with the food. Very relaxed yes very, but if you have the time you won't be disappointed.
Straight from the get go, if you love Thai food and you love fish, then Betong (meaning bamboo, a district at the southern most point of Thailand) is a place you need to check out, pronto. Surprisingly, in spite of its modern design and cosy layout, Betong was not packed to the rafters (well, not last night, anyway) but on the evidence of what we witnessed, put this down to a 'windy weather' one off... Plumming for Pla Nung Manao (Lime Barramundi) was a tough call given there is a whole heap of other Fish options, including Barra with Spicy Sauce (Pia Rard Prik), Barra with Ginger (Pia Jean), Barra with Sweet 'n' Sour (Pia Peaw wan) or Barra with crunchy Garlic (Pia Tod Gratiam). The Lime Barra was, in itself, a 5 rating, beautifully presented and arriving in style on a sizzle cooker. The aroma was sweet, not suffering from... read more
Took a deal to dine in at lunch yesterday. Set up quite spacious and with open air ambience. Service is sincere and attentive. Ordered entrees of Fish Cake & Coconut Prawns, which were both let down. The former was over-cooked and the latter was coated with very hard batter. Mains of Duck with Lychee & Curry Jungle saved a lot of marks. The former was very tasteful to go with rice, particularly the tiny little cherry tomatoes gave a surprising burst and sourness matching the spiciness of the dish. However, if the sauce could be thickened more than it would be perfect. The curry jungle was the first curry dish I tried without coconut milk. Let me warn you, this dish is very authentic and hot, advise to go with coconut rice making it perfect. All in all, this was not a bad experience.
My husband and I went to the place last weekend. I loved the ambiance and decor of the place. It was modern, contemporary and very inviting. The entree started with a low for me. The Tom yum soup had a little too much fish sauce for my taste. The mixed entree was ok-ish. We had ordered the spicy lamb for mains with coconut rice. That was amazing. Lovely fragrant lamb with perfectly cooked vegetables. The aroma of the lamb was rich and spicy as promised. Over all the evening was great. I would go there again but just not order the entree
Great tasty Thai food with great selection. Best thing is, at present, they deliver for free in the surrounding suburbs. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been here or ordered free delivery take away!!
