Alexandra House - Hamilton

I have eaten at this restaurant twice this week. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary. The Scotch Fillet Steak was fine, although slightly overpriced at $38. The next most expensive meal was about $10 less. I understand that prices may have to be raised to accommodate the cost of living. The service was average, nothing exceptional. Overall, it was an okay dining experience.

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by the motel where we stayed overnight. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in, as there is also a gaming area and the food at these types of places is usually not great. However, to my great surprise, the food reminded me of my old Aunty's kitchen in Balmoral 40 years ago, with a hearty cook and a delicious, traditional meal that was both filling and affordable. I had the beef roast with gravy and vegetables, which was fantastic. The schnitzel was also excellent and the vegetables were not overcooked. My wife enjoyed the grilled fish. I highly recommend this restaurant.

During an unexpected stay in Hamilton for the night, I was craving a meal that I didn't have to prepare after spending two weeks camping. The staff at the restaurant was incredibly friendly and helpful. I ordered the Crumbed Cutlets with vegetables and it was absolutely perfect.

I only had the best cancer salad and my partner had Gnocchi. Both were fantastic. Great service. We took away, but you can eat or deliver them.

The Gnocchi was melt in your mouth and they were happy to prepare mine to suit my allergies. Most local places refuse to do this. And they do home delivery. Perfect for those days where time gets away from you and then it's dinner time.
