Gourmet House Chinese Restaurant

Rang to order takeaway and because of past experience of them taking the order down wrong I asked the woman on the phone to repeat our order. She started repeating it really fast so that I could not understand what she was saying and asked her to slow down. She still didnt slow down. I asked if there was someone else I could talk to and she said no there wasnt. I once again asked her to repeat my order but please talk slower. She just said order ready in 20 mins and that was the end of the conversation. Hubby was picking it up and so I rang back to tell them when he would be there as in the first conversation she didnt give me a chance to do that and once again I couldnt understand her and she hung up on me. When he got there he then had to wait another 15 mins and was over an hour since I had ordered it for them to apparently cook it again. Im hoping when he gets home that they have got the order right. She was so rude especially to hang up on me in the middle of a conversation. Looks like we might be finding a new chinese place to go to in the future.

Feeling unsatisfied, I ended up ordering plain rice instead. Although the food was good, the woman's attitude and customer service were extremely poor. The cashier, on the other hand, was understanding and tried to make amends. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant due to the woman's behavior. I would not recommend it, especially if you have to interact with her.

The food was absolutely delicious, but the restaurant was too cold and could use some background music. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable.

Discovered this Restaurant in a little centre with excellent parking, that leads off the main street of Hahndorf village. Has fun personality due to some of the artwork on the walls, plus large roaring fireplace in winter. In one corner, a small screen churns out silent, old black and white glamour movies from times gone by in China. Food pretty good and service excellent. There is a lot of loud discussion going on in the kitchen, which I note somebody below objected to. But that is just the way it is. My only problem is that the portions were way too large. About double of what I would expect them to be. I would happily pay the going price ...or even more, because the item prices are very modest) for a portion half the size.
