The Odd Rainbow Restraunt - Grand Manan

The staff are wonderful and the food is great. You can get just about anything there and for any meal.

This is a locally run restaurant with some unique charm. I believe they have a full liquor license, but we didn't have any. We had a meal in the middle of the afternoon, so service was no problem. It seems that many restaurants in the Atlantic Provinces take their time bringing out the orders and this one is no different. I'd like to think that it's because they are preparing everything from scratch, but who knows? We were on a relaxed schedule so it didn't matter to us. The food was tasty, but not spectacular. Presentation was also nothing special, but the portions were large.

Oh my.... I am not going to be one of those friendly people who cannot speak the hard truth. The good things first: friendly service, clean, bright space. But the reason I came was the advertisement for lobster poutine. Wow, hands down the worst meal over $20 I have ever had in my 45 years of travel!! Even street vendors in India put way more effort into their prepared food. Pre-cut, frozen fries... okay. Miracle Whip-like orange sauce... maybe okay. A tablespoon of lobster, out of a can, blobbed on top... no, that is not a lobster poutine. Not a hint of creativity, and besides that little bit of lobster, also NO lobster taste.

This is an excellent spot to kick off your day. The staff is very friendly, and they offer a large breakfast menu with high-quality and generously portioned dishes. The restaurant is very clean and has interesting decor. It's conveniently located near the ferry terminal and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I dined here for breakfast twice and highly recommend it.

During our camping trip to Grand Manan island, we decided to grab a quick meal at this restaurant. The service was excellent, and my husband had a club sandwich with chips while I opted for the chili. However, my experience took a turn for the worse when I woke up at 3 am feeling ill and vomiting. I suspect I had food poisoning which cut our trip short.
